Dries Truyers design

Dries Truyers is a furniture designer who brings creativity to the very core of his work. For him, experimenting with both ordinary and unconventional materials is one of the most fascinating aspects of his craft.

As a designer, he combines the best of craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.

At first glance, Dries' creations may appear simple, but each piece is full of refinement and carefully considered choices. They exude a sense of calm, naturalness, and simplicity. With a strong focus on sustainability, he makes extensive use of reclaimed materials and residual flows. Every piece he creates tells a unique story and makes a powerful statement about how design can unite beauty and responsibility.

With CorkCycle, Dries Truyers developed an innovative biocomposite made from recycled wine corks and natural glue. From this material, Dries creates affordable and aesthetic everyday objects that are both ecological and accessible.

One of the first applications is a multifunctional furniture piece that can be used both as a stool and a side table. Its removable solid oak top protects the cork and can also serve as a serving tray or charcuterie board.

CorkCycle is a exploration of balance between craftsmanship and production, sustainability and design, experimentation and feasibility.
